GERIATRICIAN AND GENERAL PHYSICIAN

Dr Wijay has been working as a Geriatrician and a General Physician at Toowoomba Hospital since 2015. He currently looks after Orthogeriatrics, and Geriatric Evaluation and Management Unit in Toowoomba Hospital. He also does Memory, Falls and General Geriatric Clinics. Dr Wijay’s other duties include community geriatrics and managing acute stroke patients.

Dr Wijay completed his basic training and advanced training in Geriatrics and General Medicine in major tertiary hospitals in Southeast Queensland. Before relocating to Australia, he worked in NHS, United Kingdom.

Dr Wijay enjoys teaching and research. He currently holds the position of senior lecturer at the University of Queensland and is an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. He has held academic positions in Griffith University and Bond University in the past. Dr Wijay is the principal investigator for ANZ Hip Fracture Registry for Toowoomba Hospital.

Dr Wijay's special interests include memory and cognitive disorders, falls, orthogeriatrics, osteoporosis, peri-operative care in elderly, behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD), comprehensive geriatric assessment, complex geriatric syndromes and polypharmacy.

Dr Wijay provides outpatient consultation service for geriatric patients at Toowoomba Neurology. He has admission right at St Andrew's Toowoomba Hospital and St Vincent Hospital.
